Facts about Italy:
Most Italians can communicate in at least another language; usually Spanish, French or English. Many of them speak two languages fluently.

Most Italians understand English.

Italian males are famous for living with their parents till up to 40 years of age, normally up to 30.

Italy has about 3000 museums and 70% of the world's art patrimony, of which a good half is located in Florence (UNESCO statistic).
European Union:
Italy is part of the EU (European Union) and was one of the 6 founding members together with Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
G8:
Italy is one of the members of the G8, the informal organization of the eight most industrialized countries in the world. Italy is the sixth largest economic power in the world.
Establishment as a country:
The Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed on 17 March 1861. The Italian Republic was established in June 1946.
Sport:
The national sport is soccer. Each Saturday a game is played in every majour city.
Religion:
Rome is recognized internationally as the Capital of the Christianity. In fact the Italian population is 98% Roman Catholic. Religious minorities in Italy are: Jehovah's Witnesses, Protestants, Jews and Moslems.

According to American researchers, the mediterranean cusine is the most balanced and healthy of the world. Italian cusine is well known for being the best of the mediterranean, so we can safely say that by having Italian food every day, you would be having the most healthy and balanced diet available on earth.
